Is your business utilising all the benefits that mobile and remote working technology has to offer?
By the end of this year, nearly half of the global population will be using the internet. It is predicted that by 2016, 32% of the global workforce will be working outside the office as a result of mobile technology, with two thirds of these owning a smart phone.
But despite advances in technology and changes in attitudes, fewer than half of all companies have an effective remote working strategy in place that allows people to work on the move.
For many businesses, the line between work and personal affairs has become blurred as employees often complete work during evenings and weekends as well during commuting and on their travels. For most people in business today, the ability to work irrespective of location has become something clients and employers expect, and as a result something businesses must be able to achieve.
There are now estimated to be 1 million people in the UK who are not deskbound and spend the majority of their work time away from a home/office base, either on the road or with clients.
Smart phone, laptops and tablets have helped to create a workforce that never stops working. But when working away from the office you need to be able to access all of the documents and other information that you would normally be able to access as if you were at your own computer.
Remote working offers workers the flexibility to access data from home and on the move. Whereas in the past meeting a client might result in an entire day being taken away from work, today mobile technology facilitates access to all the resources an individual would need in order to work effectively.
