3 ways to speed up your computer that actually work

3 ways to speed up your computer that actually workA slow computer can be incredibly frustrating but before you fork out for an expensive new laptop or PC computer you should consider trying out a few of these tried and trusted techniques below. Often speeding up your computer can be easier and less costly than you might expect.

1 – Remove bloatware

Bloatware might sound fancy or complicated but all it actually refers to is software which you don’t use and therefore takes up unnecessary space, ‘bloating’ your computer. Sometimes laptops or computers will come pre-installed with software which the manufacturer thinks will be useful to you but you actually never use. The problem is that this takes up space and often will begin running the moment you turn on your computer, which slows it down. You should ask your IT support company to remove any unwanted programmes for you.

2 – Keep Anti-Virus software up to date

Some users will complain that Anti-Virus software can make their computers slow. While it’s true that anti-virus software may seem overbearing, removing it will leave you vulnerable to malware which could make your computer significantly slower and leave you open to all kinds of risks. So keep your software up to date, with all the correct patches to protect your business.

3 – Upgrade to a SSD (Solid State Drive)

A Hard Disk Drive is a fixed disk drive which is used for storing and retrieving all of the information held on your computer or laptop and up until fairly recently were the most popular choice for storage. However, today SSD (Solid State Drive) is often preferred as the microchip storage it utilises results in much faster performance.
